Adventurer’s Kit, Leather Armor, Scimitar, Flute
Ciridan is a tall, slim, dark-haired Eladrin with slightly gold-hued skin. He wears finely crafted but subtle leather armor and wields a long, thin, scimitar that curves as if it were an extension of his arm – his other hand is always empty, as if at any moment he might reach out to snatch something invisible out of the air.
Ciridan has had a relatively uneventful life, having been born to a well-off family, educated extensively by the finest tutors and academies in history, magic and swordplay, and then sent away to be indentured into the service of the Eladrin nobility as the youngest member of the personal honour guard of the Teleri family. Like most of the society in which he was raised, he is a dedicated worshipper of Torm, the knightly god of duty, loyalty, obedience and truth, and he strives to maintain these ideals in all aspects of his highly ritualized life.
The Teleri are Eladrin nobility, somewhere in the middle-range of the heirarchy – powerful and respected, but certainly not royalty. Nevertheless, they keep an extensive household in their estate in Telrain, which shimmers somewhere between the Feywild and the mundane world, present in both but never entirely in either. Ciridan is one of five elite guards who travel with the Teleri at all times, entirely dedicated to their protection, including this most recent journey across the sea…
Ciridan’s main fault isn’t so much personal as cultural – the heirarchical nature of Eladrin society is completely ingrained in him, so he has an obsession with doing his “duty” and a fierce sense of loyalty, right and wrong that makes it difficult for him to function outside the structure of his everyday life with the Teleri. His naive sense of duty and black-and-white conception of right and wrong have in the past caused him some trouble, pursuing impossible quests of honour and emulating the great knights of old. However, when he does manage to befriend people who aren’t his masters (which happens only rarely), he is the most loyal and trusting friend imaginable, with a dedication to those close to him as unflappable as to the Teleri.
